COURSE DESCRIPTION
Safe Return is a practical training for individuals who are incarcerated, recently released, or on probation or parole in rural Georgia. You will learn the knowledge and skills to stay safe and respond in an emergency, including how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer naloxone to save a life. The course also provides information on local resources for support, treatment, and harm reduction.

This course is completely self-paced, so you can go through it at a speed that works best for you. You can finish in one go or spread it out over multiple sessions.

We estimate about 75 minutes to complete this course if you take your time, complete all questions and practice scenarios, and explore extra resources.

Safe Return was developed as part of the Rural Opioid Harm Reduction (ROHR) for Justice-Involved Individuals Project.

Opioid harm reduction

The ROHR Project

The Rural Opioid Harm Reduction (ROHR) for Justice-Involved Individuals Project partners with rural Georgia sheriff’s offices, rural jails/prisons, and incarcerated individuals with lived experience of opioid use to reduce harm, prevent overdose, and support successful community reintegration by providing practical, evidence-based education, tools, and resources.

We believe saving lives starts with knowledge, compassion, and access—especially in places where resources are limited and the stakes are high.
